BLAST 18A 2009-2010 Atlantic District Runner up
DVHL CHAMPIONS
The Blast 18A Team went into the 2010 DVHL Playoffs as the 2nd seed and came away as DVHL Champions They defeated the 3rd seed Ice Dogs 5-1 on Saturday Feb 27th and the clinched the league title Sunday morning by defeating the #1 Seed Delco Phantoms 4-2. The team then clinched the #1 Seed in the Atlantic District Playoffs to face the Delco Phantoms in a best of three series on March 6th and 7th at Twin Ponds in Harrisburg.
At the Atlantic District Championship game one went to the Blast 3-2 decided in a shootout. Game 2 went to the Delco Phantoms in a last minute goal to decide the game again 3-2. Game 3 saw Delco come out strong and never looking back to deicde the series with a 6-1 victory.
The Blast finshed the season a strong 17-6-1 in regular season and 2-0 in DVHL Playoffs.
The Blast would like to congratulate the Delco Phantoms 18A team for a job well done as Atlantic District Champions. They played well and represented the organization with class.

West Chester, PA - Bethlehem Blast 18A team went into the weekend tournament on Saturday 2/28 in second place after completing the 2009-2010 Regular season 17-6-1. Defeating the Ice Dogs 5-1 in the first game, they would move on to play the Delco Phantoms, who finshed the first in regular season. On Sunday the Blast defeated the Phantoms to win the DVHL Championship and move onto Districts. There they will again face the Phantoms in a best of 3 series to determine the Atlantic District Champion!

Hatfield, PA - The Bethlehem Blast would like to congratulate the Peewee A team on their 2nd place finish at the Ice Dogs Fall Breakout Tournament 2009. Finishing 2-1-0 in round robin play. The highlight was the deciding game in round robin play, a tie or loss would have put the team out of championship round contention. Digging out of a 3-1 deficit going into the 3rd period, the team beat the NJ Stars 4-3 to move on to Championship round. Great job Peewee A.

Aston, PA - The Blast would like to congratulate the Squirt A team on their 2nd place at the Aston Labor Day Tournament 2009. The Blast was 3-1-0 going into the championship game that also included 2 shutouts. Finishing regulation and a 3 on 3, 5 minute overtime in a 3-3 tie, the final decision led to a shootout giving Valley Forge Colonials the win 4-3.

Vineland, NJ – The Bethlehem Blast Midgets U16 AA and Peewee AA participated at the CanLan Tournament this past weekend. The 16AA team played strong all weekend to win it all and went 4-0 and beat a U18AA team in the final 4-3. The U16AA is done with the summer tournament season and went 12-1 over the summer winning 2 championships and a runner up. The runner up trophy was a Tier 1 tournament and the team went 4-1 and lost in the championship. This is a significant accomplishment for a Tier 2 organization like the Blast.
Peewee AA also participated in the CanLan tournament this weekend. Out shooting the opposition the Blast went 2-2 on the weekend posting 2 shutouts. Congratulations to all teams on an outstanding Summer.

Wes Ashley (Bantam) and Connor Macdonald (16U) for making the Atlantic District Team. The Atlantic District comprises the Eastern half of PA, all of NJ and DE. The Atlantic District Teams went on to compete at Kent State this summer against hockey teams from the other 11 Districts in USA Hockey. Congratulations Wes and Connor!
The Blast would also like to congratulate Matt Phillipes and Matt Steidel on competing with Team Philadelphia and competing at Hockey Night in Boston, both players made the All Star team. Matt Steidel also posted 2 shutouts in the Tournament. Congratulations Matt P and Matt S!

In team news, the Blast 16AA team won the June Tournament at the Flyer Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ. The team swept the tournament going 4 and 0 to win the title for the 4th year in a row. In August the 16AA team finished runner up, going 4-1, at the Tier 1 Tournament of Champions held at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Also in August, the Blast 16A team took runner up at the Summer Shootout in Hatfield. The team battled hard, losing the championship in a very close 3-2 loss.

At the Annual General Membership Meeting held April 22, 2009 the following members were elected to the BLAST Executive Board:

Sandy and Mark are current Board members. Sandy has been the V.P., External Affairs, and Mark was most recently the Special Events Coordinator. Wendy is new to the Board, but has been a Team Manager for the past two seasons. Please welcome them to their new positions of leadership.

These three Blast PeeWee AA teammates each earned a roster spots to play in the Quebec International PeeWee Tournament in February, 2009. This is a prestigious honor. This tournament, now in it's 50th year, is considered to be the World Championships of PeeWee ice hockey with over 2,300 players from more than 16 countries participating. It is a great accomplishment for these boys and an opportunity of a lifetime. A number of current and former NHL stars have participated in this tournament over the years. The Blast is proud to have these three players in our Club! ________________________________

Champions of the Ice Works Thanksgiving Tournament in Aston, PA
Our Bantam AA team lost the first game, to Haverford,but regrouped to beat VFC and tie the Quakers. A semi-final victoryover VFC earned them a rematch with Haverford in the Championshipgame. The Blast redeemed their earlier loss with a thrilling 1-0victory that went to a shoot out to decide the winner!

Champions of the Hershey Thankgiving Tournament
Our Squirt A team went 2-1-0 in the round robin, beatingthe NJ Titans and NY Stars while losing to the Clarkstown Capitals. Inthe semi-finals the Blast defeated the Titans again, setting up arematch wih the Capitals and a chance to avenge their only loss. Inanother thrilling championship game, the Blast won 4-3 with the winninggoal coming with just 52 seconds left in overtime!

Congratulations The Bantam AA team traveled to York City Ice Arena August 25-26 for a pre-season tournament and started the year off in good form, finishing second. After tough games against Navy Youth, the Delaware Ducks and the York Devils, the Blast Bantam AA lost a tough rematch in the Championship game, falling 3-1 to Navy Youth. Coach Tom Ashley's team played well and is looking forward to a good season. ____________________ Congratulations This year's Midget Major (U18) AA team, led by head coach Mark Spease, has jumped out to a fast start. In two tournaments over the summer the Blast's top team has amassed an impressive 8-0 record including four shutouts. In June they won the Jr. Phantoms Summer Tournament at the Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ, going 4-0 with three shutouts and beating the host Jr. Phantoms 4-2 in the Championship game. August 18-19 the team traveled to Farmingdale, NJ to play in the Jr. Titans Midget AA Tournament. Again Coach Spease's team came away undefeated at 4-0 including a 4-3 victory over the Jr. Titans in the Championship game.

Congratulations The 2007-08 Midget Minor (U16) AA team, coached by Ken Latteman, got an early start to the season with a visit to Hatfield for the Summer Shootout Tournament. The team came on strong during the second day of the tournament and played the host Ice Dogs in the Finals, losing 4-1.

The PeeWee A team and the PeeWee B team both went to the AAHA District Playoffs held at Ice Line in West Chester, PA on March 2-4... and BOTH came home Champions!
- PeeWee A had earned a berth to Districts based on the team's 1st place finish in the DVHL regular season (see below)
- PeeWee B had to win the DVHL Playoffs to earn a spot in the Districts, and now has won both (see below for more details on the team's season)
