About The BETHLEHEM BLAST®:
The BETHLEHEM BLAST is the premier youth travel ice hockey organization in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding region. The Blast is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing competitive ice hockey and skills development for boys and girls ages 6-18 years old. As a member of the Delaware Valley Hockey League (DVHL), the Blast teams compete against other travel programs in a geography that includes southeastern Pa., the Poconos, west to the Harrisburg/York area, and south into Delaware.
Originally founded as Thunder Youth Hockey in 1992, the organization moved to the new, state-of-the-art, twin-rink Steel Ice Center in Southside Bethlehem, Pa. in 2003; changing its name to the Bethlehem Blast as a tribute to the generations of steelworkers who labored in the former Bethlehem Steel plant on the site where the new rink now stands.
The Blast philosophy is based not just on the "on-ice" aspects of youth hockey, but also on providing opportunities to bring families together, and to promote a sense of community and civic values. Annual food drives and basket auction fundraisers benefit the local community. Volunteer-run, the Blast continues to grow and prosper.
Monthly Board meetings:
Monthly Board of Directors meetings are held at the Steel Ice Center. The meetings start at 7:00pm and are open to all BLAST members in good standing.
